I have recently begun to question what it is one can actually do with all of the
information now available to us all, via Youtube and forums like this one. The truth is so much more prevalent than ever before. Millions now seek understanding of what is happening to their world. While I admire the thirst for knowledge and the willingness to share vital information to those who would seek it, what now do we do with all of this new found wealth?
One can run for office, organize like minded groups which share even more information, write a congressman or senator but what then? Face it, few of us have the means, the charisma or time away from the struggle of daily survival to run for office. Letters to bought and sold representatives go unheeded, unanswered and worse.
Many of us who lived through the sixties and seventies remember the great tide of the peace movement. We remember the demonstrations, Kent State, the Chicago convention, and the end that came with Richard Nixon. Those days were admirable in that the information highway had not yet been traveled. Word was spread one voice at a time, one leaflet, one underground news paper. Local meeting houses, basements, living rooms were filled with seekers and ideas.
Fast forward to a world led by Neocon warriors. Forty years later we are on the brink of world war once again. Our rights as citizens of America and the world are trampled further into the dirt every day. The idea of peaceful demonstration has taken on new meaning with the advent of internal armies such as Blackwater. These rogues answer to no one. The day when the National Guard might be called in to watch over the proceedings and perhaps fire on the crowd if need be, are over. We now live in a police state which has yet to be tested to it's fullest extent.
The mainstream media is of absolutely no use or consequence. The "news" is not the news, it is ratings. The sponsors have no social concience as is eveident by the poularity of such networks as "FOX". The damage being done by the likes of Bill O'Reilly and that rodent, Sean Hannity, is enormous. It is evident by these ratings, that the majority still seek out "news" from such "sources". Want an answer to the conflict in Georgia? Forget it my friend, John Edwards cant keep it in his pants. Brittney got a new tattoo...
We face problems none of us could have dreamed of even ten short years ago. We are no longer a "bunch of drug addled, sex crazed hippies". We are truth seekers from all walks of life from both sides of the fence. We are citizens of a world in peril. My naive question is simply this. Where do we go from here? How do we use the knowledge we mine from reliable sources? How do we band together as a people worried about the fate of our children? The revolution will not be televised...or will it?
